How Long Will the INS Take to Process My H-1B Transfer? While it seems the processing times for H-1B transfers should be shorter than for new H-1Bs, this often is not the case. One should count on a transfer taking about the same time as filing for a new H-1B. To find out how long your transfer may take, check the H-1B processing times on this site for your service center and assume these figures will apply to your transfer. Remember, the processing times we have are the latest that have been made available to us and may not reflect actual, current times. Note that under the new American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act (AC21) law, many transfer applicants will be eligible to work upon the filing of the transfer petition. Further, the Premium Processing Service should become available for H-1B visas on July 30, 2001, at which time the INS will offer guaranteed processing within 15 days with the payment of an additional $1000 premium processing fee. |
