USCIS Announces Revised Form I-9 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lorenzo M. Lleras
Thursday, 15 November 2007
USCIS announced that as of November 7, 2007, a revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) is available for use.   The major revisions consist of the removal of five documents for proof of both identity and employment eligibility.  The documents so removed consist of the Certificate of U.S. Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, the old Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-151), the Reentry Permit (Form I-327) and the Refugee Travel Document (Form I-517).   USCIS is encouraging the use of the new form for all hires after November 7, 2007, but it will not penalize employers for usage of the old form until a notice is published in the Federal Register.

Please also note that a new M-274 Handbook for Employers, Instructions for Completing the I-9 has been released.
