Ever wonder about the "prevailing wage" that everyone in business/corporate immigration refers to? Prevailing wage statistics are used to determine whether employment contract provisions satisfy applicable prevailing wage requirements for many types of employment based immigrant and nonimmigrant visas and immigration applications. Prevailing wage statistics are based upon occupation and geographic area.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) maintains a database that breaks down prevailing wage statistics by occupation and metropolitan area. The DOL Employment and Training Administration (DOLETA) The DOL's Online Wage Library can be found on the Florida Labor Certification Data Center at: http://www.flcdatacenter.com. The DOL Florida Labor Certification Data Center also has many informative frequently asked questions at: http://www.flcdatacenter.com/faq.aspx.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has recently revised the wage data. According to the Florida Labor Certification Data Center, the new data is expected to be posted on or before July 6, 2006.
